The ‘Epic Love’ collection is inspired by Mughal gardens. “Our muse – the young gypsy princess – is free- spirited, yet embraces tradition in her own special way… Traditional styles like the lehenga choli and sari are reinvented in contemporary silhouettes, ” said Dongre.

The best thing about this collection lies in its versatility – the Bohemian gypsy blouse can be paired with a printed lehenga just as superbly as it would go with a pair of silk trousers. Fringe-finished bridal sarees with tie-up tops that wrap around the drape add a contemporary twist to the classic saree.

The color palette ranged from sapphire blue to deep reds, rusts, brown, pink and moody oranges.

With fusion music creating an earthy background, the classic, Mughal era influenced saris, lengthy skirts, many different types of blouses, dupattas, achkans as well as kurtas for men, the ensembles exuding elegance wrapped in tradition had the effect of gota patti, dabka, and phulkari included in perfect balance. Anita Dongre mesmerised the viewers with her vibrant, gota patti infused designs.

According to Designer Anita Dongre, bridal look is not “over-the-top” anymore. She says these days women prefer to wear traditional outfits with a “casual edge”.

Celebs like veteran actress-socialist Shabana Azmi, Bhumi Pednekar, Pernia Qureshi and ace designer Manish Malhotra attended the event.

Fashion designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Reynu Taandon, Rimple and Harpreet Narula, Rahul Mishra, Anamika Khanna, Varun Bahl, Gaurav Gupta, Manav Gangwani and Rohit Bal will be showcasing their latest collection at the five-day ICW 2016.
