Fashion designer Anamika Khanna amazed everyone at the FDCI India Couture Week (ICW) 2016 with her fresh collection known as — When Time Stood Still. The designer, who is famous for her experimental designs, contemporary and edgy design as well as subtlety, portrayed her collection theme via live model set up.
Sonam Kapoor added Bollywood shine to Anamika Khanna’s show at India Couture Week 2016 on Friday. While the collection was loved by one and all, it was Bollywood fashion diva Sonam Kapoor who stole the show with her vintage look. The actress was dressed in a champagne hued flower embroidered half saree with a loose blouse. She finished her look with a red lipstick.
The collection was equally stunning with embroidered lehengas having 3D flowers, palazzos, sequined jackets, long trailed anarkali’s to pant sarees–all paired with statement jewellery pieces consisting of treasured stones like emerald, diamonds and rubies having a gold base.
Using fabrics such as organza and georgette, the colour palette was starting with ivories and pastels like oyster pink and rose, jade and powder blue it branched out to black with hints of mustard and red. The collection also saw a extensive use of heavy embroideries, sequined work, hand weaves and complex work of gold embroidery on the silhouettes.
The silhouettes were designed bearing in mind the revolutionary Indian women, who is rooted in tradition, but has the courage to experiment. Patterns inspired by traditional ‘sharara, ‘ a new avatar of saree, oversized and structured jackets, skirts and concept of classic ‘odhna’ was included in the range.
Even though collection represents the women of today, Designer Anamika Khanna chose to include conventional embroideries like kalamkari, dori work and zardosi throughout the collection. The touch of technology was introduced by 3D petals.
With popular numbers by famous singers Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra playing and the runway filled up with trees and actual live models–the show left everybody wanting for more.
The off-site show was attended by well known faces of Delhi social circuit. Designers Manish Malhotra, Varun Bahl, Manav Gangwani and fashion entrepreneur-actress Pernia Qureshi were also present to cheer for Anamika.
